DESCRIPTION:Join the Nature Conservancy and partners at Halyburton Park for a fun\, free day to check out live raptors and other animals\, hayrides\, face painting and crafts\, Smokey Bear\, fire trucks\, bull dozers\, and over 40 interactive booths. \nLearn why our “fire forests” thrive when we add fire back\, helping plants and animals such as Venus flytraps and black bears thrive. Eat at one of the many delicious food trucks. At the end of the day you can see a controlled burn in the pine forest. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our monthly Open Hike weekend on October 17 & 18 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at Everett Creek Preserve in Onslow County. Come on in and explore this wonderful property! You will be able to explore the trail system of natural\, unpaved trails of various lengths\, observe longleaf restoration areas\, and discover pollinator gardens. Staff will be there to open the gates\, but this is your chance to hike as you please – no guided hikes or lectures. Dogs are not allowed at this Preserve.
