Volunteer Day – Gales Creek Preserve
March 3, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
March 3rd Gales Creek Preserve Workday:
Time:
10-12, trail work
12-12:30, hike
Gales Creek Preserve is in Carteret County, a 2 hour drive from Wilmington, so we suggest leaving around 7:45-8 am.
What: 10-12 Trail Work: We will be doing trail maintenance at our Gales Creek Preserve. This will include removal of branches, leaves, or any obstructions on the trail.
12-12:30 Find it in the Forest Hike: Each volunteer will receive one of our “Find it in the Forest” guides- a guide that helps the user determine whether or not they are walking through a healthy longleaf forest- and explore some of our Longleaf Pine stands at our Gales Creek Preserve.
What to bring: Water bottle, garden hand tool (if already owned), bagged lunch (optional)
What to wear: We require long pants and close-toed shoes. We suggest long sleeves, gloves, and a hat
If you do not have everything in the suggested things to bring and wear, the Coastal Land Trust will provide: Gloves, hand tools, water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, first aid kit
Email americorps@CoastalLandTrust.org to let us know you’ll be there and to get specific directions if you will be meeting us there.
