This AmeriCorps position will assist the Associate Director/Director of Stewardship and Community Conservation in implementing and expanding the environmental education programs and curricula at 4 of NCCLT’s preserves: Piney Ridge Nature Preserve, Everett Creek Preserve, Gale’s Creek Preserve, and Springer’s Point Preserve as well as on site environmental education at partner properties: Halyburton Park, Brunswick Nature Park, and Holly Shelter game lands.

The Coordinator will assist staff in writing and editing environmental education materials as well as leading and assisting classroom, digital and field lessons based on the Coastal Land Trust’s curricula. The Coordinator will identify underserved schools in areas near the preserves and recruit and support teachers, school administrators, volunteers and others to become involved in environmental education programs in elementary and middles schools in New Hanover, Onslow, Carteret, Pender, and Brunswick counties.

The Coordinator will manage volunteers for environmental education and outreach. The Coordinator will also assist the Coastal Land Trust staff in a variety of other activities related to land stewardship, conservation outreach, and special events, as well as organize and lead hikes to the public.
