Little Lunch Lecture – 12 noon – Brunswick Nature Park
December 11, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm
Brunswick Nature Park – A Community Story
Research now clearly supports what nature lovers have long known: nature is good for people. Whether enhancing the marketability of a region or improving a community’s health, the human benefit of natural spaces continues to be recognized in the academic literature and in our own personal experience. Yet in an age defined by growth and expansion, preserving natural spaces has become an increasingly deliberate act.
“Like many others in our region, my love of Brunswick Nature Park now runs deep” says Trish Farnham, Friday’s lecturer. “As a public servant, I have long understood that doing what’s right for the common good, including preserving our natural spaces, doesn’t happen by default or by accident. It requires intention. It requires collaboration. It requires heart.”
This week, learn the story of the Park’s creators and partnerships that brought vision to reality.
Presented by Trish Farnham (Coastal Land Trust member and volunteer), with partners Dave Ellegood (Cape Fear SORBA) and Pam Watkins (wife of the late Bruce Watkins, whose vision brought the park to fruition).
