Holiday Bird Count
12/14/2019
8am-10am
Everett Creek Preserve, Sneads Ferry, NC
Come join the Coastal Land Trust for this fun Holiday Bird Count! The annual Audubon “Christmas” Bird Count occurs each year, and this year we are bringing it to our Everett Creek Preserve. Each count takes place in an established 15-mile wide diameter circle, and is organized by a count compiler. Count volunteers follow specified routes through a designated 15-mile (24-km) diameter circle, counting every bird they see or hear all day. It’s not just a species tally—all birds are counted all day, giving an indication of the total number of birds in the circle that day.
We will be hiking around Everett Creek Preserve while sending out bird calls and counting the different birds we see! (There will also be possible light trail work.) This property is directly adjacent to Betty Dixon Elementary School in Sneads Ferry, NC. It is less than an hour drive from Wilmington or from Jacksonville, NC. There are bathrooms on site as well as parking. Coastal Land Trust will provide water, gloves, hand tools, bug spray, sunscreen, snacks, and waivers.
