Over the past two months, the staff and Board of the Coastal Land Trust have been working closely together to plan for the future of the organization. We want to support and build on all of the wonderful work currently happening, from land acquisitions and preserve management to educational programs and the beginning of the organization’s 30th anniversary year. To that end, we are excited to announce that Harrison Marks has been selected to serve as the Interim Executive Director of the Coastal Land Trust.

Harrison is a long-time supporter of the Coastal Land Trust. He has been an active member of the Finance Committee for several years and joined the Board of Directors in 2021. He has a background in both private and nonprofit leadership. With his depth of experience and longstanding connection to conservation work in eastern North Carolina, he is the perfect choice for the role. While serving as Interim Executive Director, he is taking a leave of absence from the Board and the Finance Committee.

Dave Phillips, CLT’s Chief Financial Officer, has been serving as Acting Executive Director. Because he loves the organization so much, Dave has agreed to continue in an advisory capacity as Harrison comes up to speed. With Harrison in place, the staff and board will work together over the coming months to initiate the search for the next permanent Executive Director of the Coastal Land Trust.

We could not be more excited to have Harrison join the team and contribute his wealth of knowledge and experience to the organization.

Welcome, Harrison!
