Project Description
Duck Creek/Neuse River Gamelands
This 700-acre Craven County project protects more than three miles of frontage along Duck Creek, Northwest Creek and the Neuse River – and includes a natural area that is highly ranked by the North Carolina Natural Heritage Program. It also protects the view from New Bern’s waterfront and will provide public access as a part of the Neuse River Gamelands.
The Coastal Land Trust transferred this property to the State of North Carolina for management by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. The wetlands on the property will continue to absorb, filter and slow down flood waters moving downstream, contributing to a more resilient coast.
