The Coastal Land Trust is excited to announce Brian Rubino has joined the Coastal Land Trust team as our new Northeast Region Director effective on December 1, 2025. Lee Leidy, who formerly served as our Northeast Region Director and Attorney, has been named as our General Counsel. Brian and Lee will work closely together as the Coastal Land Trust’s staff based in the Northeast Region.

Brian’s environmental consulting background adds new strength to our land acquisition and stewardship activities with a focus on the properties and projects in the Northeast. Brian received a BS and MS in geology from East Carolina University in 1997 and 2001 and is a Professional Geologist in NC(#1933). Brian’s professional career has included private sector interdisciplinary environmental consulting with an emphasis on coastal natural resources. He has enjoyed working on coastal restoration and protection projects where his role has involved management of stakeholder teams that include members of the general public, resource and regulatory agencies, local government, legislators and conservation groups.

Brian and his family have lived in the Outer Banks area for 25 years, raising their 2 children who have attended Dare County schools. Brian’s personal connection to the Northeast, service on the Coastal Land Trust’s Board of Directors (from October 2022 – November 2025), as well as his existing professional relationships made him the ideal choice to become the new Coastal Land Trust’s Northeast Region Director.

We are thrilled to have Brian on our team, so please join us in giving him a warm welcome!
