Janice Allen, our incomparable Director of Land Protection, has announced her plans for retirement in 2024.
For the past 26 years, Janice has led the Coastal Land Trust’s efforts to protect priority natural, scenic, and/or historic areas in the coastal plain of North Carolina. Through her tireless efforts, tens of thousands of acres have been permanently protected up and down the NC Coast. Two standout examples of this work are land protected along the Waccamaw River and the protection of Site X (Salmon Creek State Natural Area). She is highly respected in the land trust community and has received numerous honors for her work including one of our state’s most prestigious awards, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.
Janice is transitioning into a part-time role and is planning to stay with the Coastal Land Trust until late 2024.
With her planned retirement, the Coastal Land Trust has an important role to fill. We are launching our search for her successor as Director of Land Protection.
