Sarah joined the Coastal Land Trust in 2023 as Stewardship Assistant.  Originally from Suffolk, VA, she grew up exploring the woods and marshes along the Nansemond River. Sarah graduated from UNC Wilmington with a BS in Environmental Science concentrating in Conservation and a minor in Economics.

After graduation, Sarah moved to Pensacola, Florida to serve on the Ecosystem Support Team with The Longleaf Alliance. During her time in Florida, she worked with rare and endangered Red Cockaded Woodpeckers and Reticulated Flatwood Salamanders, mechanically restored fire suppressed ephemeral wetlands, and treated for invasive species. She is a Wildland Fire Fighter and has conducted prescribed fire on 15,000 acres of land throughout the Gulf Coastal Plains region.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys hiking, camping, reading, yoga, art, and going to the beach. She has enjoyed playing in marsh mud since she was a kid and hopes to make a career out of it.
