This spring the Coastal Land Trust helped expand the Croatan National Forest! We transferred the 349.91 acre Bate tract, in Craven County, to the U. S. Forest Service. This transfer has been a long time in the making.

This land, shaped like an odd hexagon, is bordered on five sides by the Croatan National Forest, and now it will become part of the Croatan! The Coastal Land Trust bought this property in February 2020 with funds from the Croatan Protection Fund with the plan of transferring it to the U. S. Forest Service to help fill in and add to the Croatan National Forest.

Goal accomplished!
